All cards

  1. No phone number. Just a @username.

Sign up with a name you choose. Nobody can look you up by your number.

  2. Every private chat is locked. Groups too.

End-to-end encrypted by default with the Signal Protocol. The servers and cells that carry it can’t read it.

  3. Your contacts never leave your phone.

No address-book upload and no matching on a server. You add people by @username.

  4. A network people run.

Messages travel through cells people run on their own computers. Today a message crosses at most two cells, three with Hide my IP.

  5. No ads. No tracking.

There are no ads and no tracking code in the app. The apps, relay and cells are AGPL-3.0 licensed.

  6. AI that stays on your iPhone.iPhone

Writing help runs entirely on this iPhone. When AI replies for you, it’s always labelled AI.

  7. No internet? Texts can still hop.Preview · off by default

With Offline mesh on and the app open, a text to someone you chat with can hop through nearby phones over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, still end-to-end encrypted. Texts, photos, voice notes and files up to 3 MB, and offline voice calls to a nearby phone over Wi-Fi; still being tested between real phones.

  8. A wallet only you control.Test network · no real money

Your keys stay on your phone. Private (shielded) payments are being tested on Midnight’s test network, with no real value.

  9. Why Midnight Select
